About Cool Keeper

Cool Keeper, a voluntary energy management program offered by Rocky Mountain Power, is enjoying increasing success. In order to facilitate the growth of this program, we are implementing new procedures that will help customers better understand how Cool Keeper works.

To ensure that customer questions are directed to the right party and that service calls don't happen unnecessarily, we are implementing the following procedures:

  • Sending an e-mail notification to HVAC technicians when Cool Keeper is activated.

  • Instructing participants to contact the Cool Keeper customer service team with any questions about their air conditioning unit's performance during activation.

These two modifications will help cut down on misdirected calls to HVAC service technicians. You can help, too. When servicing an air conditioning unit with the Cool Keeper device installed, keep in mind the devices have a built-in cold load pickup delay of 7 1/2 minutes. If you feel there is a problem, please do not remove the Cool Keeper device.
